THE

HPWA members are volunteer stewards of the state-designated Herring River Area of Critical Environmental concern. Ecosystem-based watershed science indicates that to protect the water we must protect the land and its biodiversity. To that end, we participate in alliances with other organizations, working with greater impact on regional issues and efforts such as preserving and improving surface and ground water quality and quantity, our globally rare Atlantic Coastal Pine Barrens habitats, indigenous plants and animals, free ecosystem services such as water filtration, and the health and abundance of Atlantic River Herring.
