Remembering Martha Sheldon
Several HPWA members and friends of Martha, Phil Angell, Lee Pulis and Jim Smith built memorial benches that were placed in the David E. Alper and the Comassakumkanit Preserves as lasting memorials to Martha’s contributions to the work of HPWA and her love of nature, birds and conservation. Geri and Don Williams donated plaques identifying the benches as Memorials to Martha. Brian joined the group placing the bench in Comassakumkanit and really appreciated the effort. He said that was one of Martha’s favorite places to walk.
Look for them while you walk there and sit for a moment to enjoy the land HPWA helped preserve and remember Martha’s dedication to nature and conservation.
Martha’s Memorial Service will be held at 10 AM on 9 November at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Orleans, MA. This will be followed by a gathering in the Parish Hall of the church. Meanwhile, here is a link to Martha’s obituary.
Great job on the benches! I love them!
I can’t make the memorial service today. However I’ll be hiking to these two benches today. I’ll sit and thank Martha for giving me the gift of my new bird watching hobby❤️
Those benches are a perfect memorial gift❣️
