The 4th of July Boat Parade was a Huge Success!
At least 18 boats participated in the 3rd Annual Herring Pond 4th of July Boat Parade. All were festively decorated, some with music emanating. Along the shore loads of people cheered them on. An anonymous family judged the passing boats and unanimously chose the “Viking Boomer” themed boat as most creative. But felt there were so many other festive boats they decided to award another prize to the most patriotic boat. Flemming Christensen and his wife Michelle with several friends were all dressed as Vikings and had their boat elaborately decorated as a Viking ship. Cheryl and Steve Nichols and family lead the parade with music and enthusiasm and decorated their pontoon boat to the hilt with flags and other patriotic paraphernalia earning them the second prize as most patriotic.
Many thanks to Cheryl and Steve Nichols for organizing and reviving the tradition of a 4th of July Boat Parade on Great Herring Pond. So many had loads of fun! Plan to join in next year.
